Alison Redford’s My Stampede Story
Premier Alison Redford says she went to the Stampede as a child but her best memories are as a parent, taking her daughter Sarah to the grounds.
"She was three years old, I think, the first time I took her. And the first event I took her to was actually a little Stampede breakfast and we did the pony ride," she says.
"Then I braved the midway and I bought her a pink cowboy hat with a tiara and a bandana."
The premier says she still takes Sarah, now nine, to the Stampede. But one problem persists.
"One of my challenges is that her feet are growing so quickly we have to buy new cowboy boots every year," Redford says.
