The Chuckwagon King, the Barrel Racing Queen and the little Cowgirl Princess who longs for it all….Rodeo Memories in the Eyes of Six Year Old Olivia Walker

As a little girl I suddenly got a lot taller when I was hoisted on to a horse’s back for the first time at the tender age of three. This feeling; along with the feeling of going faster than I ever could on my own two legs was when my passion was born.  Yes, I am only 6 years old, but as a native Calgarian I think being a Cowgirl was in my blood.

I can not imagine being anywhere else in July but at the Calgary Stampede! It’s my most favorite time of the year.  I love watching all the horses, the Parade, the Rodeo, the Chuckwagon races and the Grandstand show truly are a little cowgirl’s dream to watch.  I love that I got to meet all of the greats of the Rodeo.  I was very lucky to meet Kelly Sutherland last year after his big win and all of the Stampede Princesses and Queen as well as, my favorite of all, Lindsay Sears. I’m a barrel racer too, so this was a very special moment for me.  Attending, all these wonderful events with my Mom and Dad every year make it even more special!

Although, I’m a little cowgirl right now, I hope some day, with all these wonderful memories that I too will be able to be in the Calgary Stampede…after all, who wouldn’t want to be in the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!!!
