Rick Hansons My Stampede Story

Growing up one of six kids in 1960-era Calgary, then a small city of some 250,000, Hanson remembers the majesty of the Stampede Parade.

"I was majorly in awe, it was such an adventure. I couldn't believe all the people.

"And I was always a float guy. I loved the floats. It's something you never forget.

"I love the way the whole city, especially the downtown, still always buys into it. It brings everybody together and we all recognize it's a time to have fun."
