Experiencing the Stampede for the First Time
Well...where do I begin. We just moved to Calgary from Nova Scotia almost 10 yrs ago and it was our first Stampede ever. My kids were so excited they couldn't contain themselves.
We all got up at the crack of dawn to head downtown for the Parade by C-train. The crowds and all the happy faces we seen on our way made us even more excited. You can actually feel the excitement in the air. The parade was amazing, the looks on my sons faces was priceless, the parade was phenomenal, and before we knew it, it was over, but knew what was in store for us next.
When we got to the Stampede grounds, it was like walking around in Disney Land (even though we have never been lol). The smells, the sounds, the colors, the people were so overwhelming we just took a few minutes to sit on a bench under a tree and just look at all the fun to be had. We ate, rode, watched, and laughed our way all day long from sunrise to sunset. The ride home, all four of my boys fell fast asleep, anticipating the next Stampede :).
